MkI 1996-99.

Model History
June 1996 2.0 LE and 2.0 LX models launched.
June 1997 2.0 SLX launched.
June 1998 1.8 LE, 2.0 GLX, 2.0 CS models launched.
August 1999 MkI discontinued and replaced by the MkII.

1.8 115 bhp 0-60mph 11 secs Top Speed 120 mph
2.0 131 bhp 0-60 mph 9.5 secs Tops Speed 124 mph

Gearboxes
Five speed manual or three speed automatic.

Equipment

LE Power steering, tinted glass, electric front windows, remote central locking, twin airbags, adjustable steering wheel, leather steering wheel, removable stereo, leather gear knob and split-fold rear seats.

LX Plus air-conditioning and anti-lock brakes.

SLX Plus alloys, front fog lights and stereo upgrade.

GLX Plus leather seats, wood and leather facings, stainless steel kick trims, RDS radio and height adjustable seat.

CS Only 105 cars produced with power bulge, special paint, rear spoiler, different alloys and stainless twin exhaust.

Height adjustable seat became standard across the range from June 1998.

Looking to buy!
Check that everything works. The electric door mirrors for example will cost £280 each and to charge the aircon will cost about £100. There is a major service due at 60,000 miles so make sure it was carried out, otherwise it will cost between £450 and £500. One of the reasons its so expensive is a cam-belt chance is due at this time. Fluids are due for replacement every 30,000 miles. The 30,000 mile service will cost around £230. The exhaust is heavy duty and should last awhile. If there is rust suspect accident damage.
